Pathological Psychology of the Sign of Virgo

It was movie night last night and in the final battle scene of Guardians of the Galaxy 3 there was a stand-off between the main villain Adam Warlock and the team. Gamora stabs Warlock, he falls backwards onto the ground and gasps, “All I wanted to do was to make things perfect!” Rocket looks down at him in reply, “You didn’t wanna make things perfect. You just hated things the way they are.”

If you have prominent Virgo placements in your birth chart; if you are a Virgo rising, Virgo Swamsha, Chiron in Virgo, or Pluto in Virgo, this may resonate with you.

Virgo, ruling the digestive tract, is tasked with the duty of choosing what parts of life are considered nutritional or beneficial, and what parts are best discarded to become waste product. When operating in the shadow, Virgo may see everything around them as imperfection. Instead of taking life for what it is and accepting/discarding the impurities, there may be an impulse to fix all of it. When the Virgo part of us is out of balance, we develop a distaste for the majority of life’s experiences. Everything is impure and it all becomes a problem in Virgo’s eyes.

If the 6th house or 6th sign placements of the Zodiac is operating in some way unconsciously, Chiron especially, then a person may not even be aware that they’ve actually developed a disdain for everything they observe, just as Warlock did.

What is the remedy? Virgo being the problem solver, needs to realize that the world is not on his/her shoulders. Relax and let go -accept the fact that you will never be able to solve the world’s problems. In reality, life is chock-full of them and always will be. A good resource for the Virgo person is the book: The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck by Mark Manson. The idea is to consciously choose your set of problems in life, letting go of the rest. Practice acceptance and develop a perspective that can identify divinity in ALL things. Don some rose-colored glasses once in a while!
